Attorney Janee Hawkins leads the Criminal Defense Division at Foster Law Firm, where she represents clients facing charges ranging from DUI to Murder. She has defended clients at every stage of the criminal justice process — arrest, first appearance, probable cause and bond hearings, arraignment, discovery, motions hearings, negotiations, and trial.
A native of Arlington, Virginia, Attorney Hawkins relocated to Atlanta in 2015. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from George Mason University in 2011, a Master of Science in the Administration of Justice from the University of Phoenix in 2013, and her Juris Doctorate from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 2017, where she was a member of the Criminal Justice Honors Program. She was admitted to the Georgia State Bar in November 2017 and is licensed to practice in Georgia’s lower courts, the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the Northern and Middle District Courts of Georgia. She is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Attorney Hawkins began her legal career in private practice, representing clients charged with crimes throughout Georgia, before pursuing her long-held goal of becoming a Public Defender. She joined the Georgia Public Defender’s Council in 2019, working in the Metro Conflict Defender’s Office in Atlanta, the Clayton County Public Defender’s Office, and the Atlanta/Stone Mountain Alternative Public Defender’s Office in DeKalb County — experience that gave her extensive trial work and strong working relationships with judges, prosecutors, and court officials across metro Atlanta.
